Paris Olympics: One other disappointment for India as Tajinderpal Singh Toor finishes twenty ninth to get knocked out in shot put qualifiers

One other day, yet one more disappointment for India. Other than capturing and Badminton, the Indian contingent has carried out poorly at Paris Olympics. And Tajinderpal Singh Toor is the new addition to the same. The shot put thrower finished a lowly 29th rank to get knocked out from the qualifiers at Paris.

Albeit a two time Asian Games gold medalist, Tajinderpal Toor was far from being his very best. He finished 15th in his group, and an overall rank of 29, which meant he failed to qualify fir the finals of shot put. The requirements to reach the finals were fairly simple – either finish within top 12 or meet the standard qualifying mark of 21.35. Toor failed to achieve both.

Tajinderpal Toor disappoints

There were high hopes from Tajinderpal Toor to perform well in Paris. Back in 2018 in Jakarta and then recently in Hangzhou he went on to defend his Asian Games title. But Paris was a disappointment for India’s shot put thrower. Toor managed just a solitary throw of 18.05 meters.

His other two throws were deemed foul throws. With such a poor performance there were barely any chance for him to qualify. In Group A he managed a ranking of 15 while overall he managed to finish 29th which meant, he was far and wide from the finals mark.
