Madambakkam Pond is positioned within the Madambakkam neighborhood of Tambaram in Chennai Metropolitan Space. Positioned to the west of Madambakkam Lake(restored by E.F.I), the pond spans an space of 1.5 acres and serves as a crucial water supply for over 10 acres of fruit-bearing, native vegetation.
E.F.I’s Restoration Efforts
Deweeding: The encompassing 2.5 acres have been cleared of invasive weed species and different thorny shrubs, contributing to improved water high quality and inspiring the expansion of native crops.


Desilting: Desilting was carried out over 1.5 acres, with 7,047 cubic meters of soil eliminated. This has improved the water retention capability of the pond.


Bund Creation: The peak of the pond’s bund was raised to 3 ft, and the width was expanded to round 4-5 ft, growing the pond’s potential to retain water in periods of rainfall.
