HC pulls up M.P. Police, over ‘inaction’ on Ambedkar statue vandalism

The Madhya Pradesh Excessive Courtroom has pulled up the State Police for its failure to take motion after a statue of B. R. Ambedkar was vandalised in Seoni district two months in the past.

A division bench of Chief Justice S. Okay. Kait and Justice Vivek Jain issued notices to the police and the State Authorities on Wednesday and directed them to reply by Could 7. The courtroom was listening to a PIL filed by a Seoni resident.

In accordance with the petition, a statue of the chief architect of the Structure was broken in Seoni’s Dhuma on February 10. Whereas an FIR was filed in opposition to unidentified individuals the identical day, the police are but to make any arrests.

The petition was filed by Jitendra Ahirwar, an area social activist, who alleged “inaction” on the native police’s half and sought the courtroom’s intervention.

The bench stated, “An affidavit signed by the Superintendent of Police, Seoni, and the Station Home Officer of Police Station, Dhuma, shall be filed indicating as to why motion has not been taken.”
